At Nyay Vishwas Foundation, we help people understand their rights, get legal guidance and figure out the next step.

Our consultations are primarily done In Marathi, Hindi or English. This is free of cost. We offer legal awareness and guidance only — the Foundation does not accept cases, does not appear for anyone, and does not create an advocate–client relationship.

What we do

We strive to make legal rights and aid accessible

Six areas of work are described below. Tell us what happened, our team of experts advocates reviews every case meticulously and charts down next steps.

Nyay Shibir

What it is
A day of free legal guidance, held in a town or village hall close to home.
Who it helps
Families for whom a lawyer's office or a government counter means a long journey and a day away from work.
What we do
An advocate sits with you and reads whatever papers you have brought. Before you leave, we explain the legal position and the next step in your own language. The advice is general in nature; the Foundation does not represent anyone or appear in court.

Women's Legal Rights

What it is
Maintenance, domestic violence, a share in family property, and difficulties at the workplace.
Who it helps
Women who have been asked to adjust, when the law would in fact allow them to ask for a great deal more.
What we do
We explain what the law already entitles you to, what an application or complaint usually needs, and which court or officer it should reach. We do not act for you in the matter.

Farmer & Land Awareness

What it is
Land records, crop loans, insurance claims and scheme paperwork.
Who it helps
Farmers and landholding families, many of them from the talukas around Jalgaon.
What we do
We read the 7/12 with you line by line, find where the file has come to rest, and identify the officer responsible for moving it forward. A surprising number of disputes begin with a single mutation entry that went unnoticed.

Cyber Help Desk

What it is
Guidance for the first few hours after money has left your account.
Who it helps
Anyone affected by a UPI request, a fraudulent KYC call, a shared OTP or an investment group on WhatsApp.
What we do
We take you through the 1930 call, the complaint on the national portal and the written intimation to your bank, in that order. These matters turn on how quickly they are reported, though we cannot promise that the money will be recovered.

Citizen Rights Clinics

What it is
Support when a pension, a ration card or a certificate has not come through.
Who it helps
Anyone who has returned from the same office several times without being given a reason in writing.
What we do
We confirm what you are entitled to, put the request in writing, and turn to the RTI or grievance route when repeated follow-ups have not helped.

Policy & Research

What it is
A careful record of the difficulties that recur from one village to the next.
Who it helps
Departments, researchers and institutions working on access to justice.
What we do
Every matter raised at a shibir is recorded. Where a pattern emerges, it becomes a submission to the department concerned and a subject for our next awareness session.

What happens after you write to us

While we cannot promise an outcome, we can assure that  you will be told clearly where your case stands and the most reasonable next steps. 

  1. 01You write to us, or send a message on WhatsApp. Two lines are enough to begin with.
  2. 02Someone on the team reads it, usually within a day or two, and often the same evening.
  3. 03We work out where the matter belongs - a court, an office, or a letter that ought to have gone earlier.
  4. 04We explain what to do, which papers to carry, and whom to ask for when you reach the counter.
  5. 05If you have further questions after that, you are welcome to write again. We only advise; we do not take up or run the matter.

Nyay Shibir

We come to your village.

A Nyay Shibir brings advocates and volunteers together in one place so people can seek initial legal guidance without worrying about consultation fees. When someone comes to a Shibir, we first understand the issue and review the available documents. An advocate then explains the legal position and possible next steps. The Shibir is an advice and awareness desk — no case is accepted and no one is engaged to appear for you.

  1. 01You are welcome to walk in. No appointment, no introduction and no fee are needed.
  2. 02A volunteer notes your details and listens to you, for as long as that takes.
  3. 03An advocate on the panel reads through whatever papers you have been able to bring.
  4. 04Together you settle on a next step: a court, an office, or an application to be made.
  5. 05Before you leave, the matter is entered in our register with a reference number.
  6. 06If more remains to be done, someone from the team will call you about it afterwards.

Aniket grew up in Jalgaon and has practised law for more than a decade. He holds a B.L.S. degree from Mumbai and an LL.M. from New York University.

Through his work as an advocate, he repeatedly encountered something fairly simple: people often have a legal remedy available to them but don't know where to start.

Nyay Vishwas Foundation grew from that experience. The idea was to create a place where someone could bring a problem, speak to people who understand the law and leave with a clearer understanding of what they can do next.

Jalgaon is where the Foundation works from, and where most of the panel practises. You are very welcome to visit. Do call before you set out, as the team is often away at a camp, and we would not want you to make the journey for nothing.
